Tisrya Sukha Recipe

Tisrya Sukha, also known as Dry Clam Masala, is a traditional dish from the coastal regions of India, especially popular in Maharashtra and Goa. Ingredients:

500 grams fresh tisrya (clams), cleaned and shelled
2 tablespoons oil (preferably coconut oil)
2 medium onions, finely chopped
2 green chilies, slit
1 tablespoon ginger-garlic paste
1 teaspoon turmeric powder
2 teaspoons red chili powder
1 teaspoon coriander powder
1 teaspoon cumin powder
1/2 teaspoon garam masala powder
1/2 cup grated fresh coconut
1 sprig curry leaves
Salt to taste
Fresh coriander leaves for garnish


Instructions:

Prepare the Clams:

Clean the clams thoroughly under running water to remove any sand or grit. Drain and set them aside.


Make the Coconut Masala:

In a dry pan, roast the grated coconut until it turns light golden brown.

Remove from heat and set aside to cool.


Cook the Onions and Spices:

Heat oil in a large pan over medium heat.

Add the chopped onions and sauté until they turn golden brown.

Add the green chilies and ginger-garlic paste, and sauté until the raw smell disappears.

Add the turmeric powder, red chili powder, coriander powder, and cumin powder, and sauté for another 2 minutes.


Add the Clams:

Add the cleaned clams to the pan and mix well with the onion and spice mixture.

Cover the pan and cook the clams for about 5 minutes, stirring occasionally.


Add the Roasted Coconut:

Add the roasted grated coconut to the pan and mix it well with the clams and masala.

Continue to cook the mixture on low heat, allowing the clams to absorb all the flavors.


Add Curry Leaves and Garam Masala:

Stir in the curry leaves and garam masala powder.

Cook for an additional 3-4 minutes until the clams are fully cooked and the masala is dry.


Garnish and Serve:

Garnish the Tisrya Sukha with freshly chopped coriander leaves.

Serve hot with bhakri, chapati, or steamed rice, and enjoy the rich, spicy flavors of this traditional coastal dish.
