The combination of orange, lemon and lime creates a wonderful balance between sweet and tart flavors, while fresh mint adds a cooling finish.
🍊 Ingredients
Serves 4
- 2 large oranges
- 2 lemons
- 1 lime
- 2 cups chilled water
- 2–3 tablespoons sugar or simple syrup
- 8–10 fresh mint leaves
- 1 cup ice cubes
- Orange slices, for garnish
- Lemon slices, for garnish
- Fresh mint sprigs, for garnish
Optional Lebanese Touch
Add 1 teaspoon orange blossom water for a delicate floral aroma.
👩🍳 How to Make Fresh Citrus Blend
1. Prepare the Citrus
Wash the oranges, lemons and lime.
Cut them in half and squeeze out the juice.
Strain the juice to remove seeds and excess pulp.
You should have approximately 1½–2 cups of fresh citrus juice.
2. Balance the Citrus
Pour the fresh orange, lemon and lime juices into a large pitcher.
Add the sugar or simple syrup.
Stir until completely dissolved.
Because oranges vary in sweetness, taste the mixture before adding more sugar.
3. Add the Mint
Add the fresh mint leaves.
Gently press the leaves with the back of a spoon to release their natural aroma.
Don't crush them too aggressively—the drink should have a fresh mint fragrance rather than a bitter herbal taste.
4. Add Cold Water
Pour in the chilled water and stir well.
If using orange blossom water, add it now.
Stir once more.
5. Chill
Add the ice cubes and several slices of orange and lemon.
Place the pitcher in the refrigerator for 15–20 minutes.
6. Serve
Fill tall glasses with ice.
Pour the Fresh Citrus Blend over the ice.
Garnish with:
- Orange wheel
- Lemon slice
- Lime wedge
- Fresh mint sprig
Serve immediately.
🍋 A More Intense Citrus Version
For a stronger fruit flavor, reduce the water to 1 cup and add another ½ cup of orange juice.
This creates a richer, almost juice-like drink.
For a lighter summer cooler, increase the water to 3 cups.
🫧 Sparkling Fresh Citrus Blend
For a restaurant-style mocktail, replace the chilled water with sparkling water.
Prepare the citrus and sugar mixture first.
Add the sparkling water immediately before serving and stir gently.
Do not blend carbonated water.
🌿 Lebanese-Inspired Variation
For a distinctly Levantine aroma, combine:
- Orange juice
- Lemon juice
- Fresh mint
- A small amount of orange blossom water
- Crushed ice
The orange blossom water should be subtle. Too much can overpower the citrus.
🧊 Frozen Citrus Blend
For an icy version, add the following to a blender:
- 1 cup fresh orange juice
- ½ cup lemon juice
- ¼ cup lime juice
- 2 tablespoons sugar
- ½ cup mint leaves
- 2 cups crushed ice
- ½ cup cold water
Blend until smooth and frosty.
Pour immediately into chilled glasses.
🍽️ What to Serve With It
Fresh Citrus Blend pairs beautifully with Lebanese food, especially:
- Hummus
- Baba ghanoush
- Tabbouleh
- Fattoush
- Falafel
- Kibbeh
- Shawarma
- Grilled chicken
- Grilled lamb
- Manakish
The bright acidity makes it particularly refreshing with grilled meats and rich mezze.
