Pork Belly with Balsamic Glaze Recipe



Pork belly is a rich, flavorful cut of meat that becomes tender and crispy when cooked properly. Adding a balsamic glaze enhances its savory profile with a touch of sweetness and acidity. Ingredients:

  • 2 lbs pork belly, skin on

  • 2 tsp salt

  • 1 tsp black pepper

  • 1 tsp garlic powder

  • 1 tsp smoked paprika

  • 1 tbsp olive oil

  • 1/2 cup balsamic vinegar

  • 2 tbsp honey

  • 1 tbsp soy sauce

  • 2 cloves garlic, minced

  • 1 tsp Dijon mustard

  • 1/2 tsp red pepper flakes (optional)

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Pork Belly:

    • Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).

    • Score the skin of the pork belly with a sharp knife, making shallow cuts in a crisscross pattern.

    • Rub the pork belly with salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and smoked paprika.

    • Drizzle with olive oil and let it sit for 10-15 minutes.

  2. Roast the Pork Belly:

    • Place the pork belly on a wire rack over a baking sheet, skin-side up.

    • Roast in the oven for about 45 minutes.

    • Increase the temperature to 425°F (220°C) and roast for another 20-25 minutes until the skin is crispy and golden brown.

  3. Prepare the Balsamic Glaze:

    • While the pork belly is roasting, heat a small saucepan over medium heat.

    • Add balsamic vinegar, honey, soy sauce, minced garlic, Dijon mustard, and red pepper flakes.

    • Simmer for 5-7 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the sauce thickens slightly.

    • Remove from heat and set aside.

  4. Glaze and Serve:

    • Once the pork belly is cooked, remove it from the oven and let it rest for 10 minutes.

    • Brush the balsamic glaze over the pork belly generously.

    • Slice into bite-sized pieces and serve warm.
