Brazilian Chocolate Balls

Today, I’m sharing the recipe for the chocolate balls. The mini wrappers I used are from Brazil, so at least something in my chocolate balls is authentically Brazilian!

Ingredients:

1 can sweetened condensed milk (I use Nestlé)
2 tbsp butter
4 tbsp cocoa powder
1 tbsp hot chocolate powder (optional)
Chocolate sprinkles for decoration

Instructions:

On the stove, keep the heat on low and add the butter to a heavy-bottomed pot. Pour in the condensed milk.

Add the cocoa powder and hot chocolate powder (if using), and mix well.

Stir constantly over low heat. Cook for 10-15 minutes, stirring, until the mixture becomes very thick, starts to pull away from the sides of the pot, and forms a thick mass.

Remove from heat and chill in the refrigerator for 20 to 30 minutes.

Once chilled, grease your hands with a bit of butter and roll the mixture into small balls.

Roll each ball in chocolate sprinkles, place them in mini wrappers or on a wax paper sheet, and chill until ready to serve.

Notes:

I’ve tried adding vanilla essence or using hazelnut or mocha-flavored hot chocolate powder, and they taste fantastic too.

There’s no need to add extra sugar as the condensed milk and chocolate sprinkles provide enough sweetness.

Stirring constantly is crucial to avoid burning the chocolate mixture.
