Ingredients:

2 medium-sized pomfret fish, cleaned and gutted
2 tablespoons lemon juice
1 tablespoon ginger-garlic paste
1 teaspoon turmeric powder
1 tablespoon red chili powder
1 teaspoon cumin powder
1 teaspoon coriander powder
1/2 teaspoon garam masala
1/2 teaspoon black pepper powder
Salt to taste
2 tablespoons rice flour or semolina (for coating)
3-4 tablespoons oil (for frying)
Fresh coriander leaves for garnish
Lemon wedges for serving

Instructions:

1. Clean and Marinate the Pomfret:

Make a few shallow slits on both sides of the pomfret to allow the marinade to penetrate.

In a bowl, mix the lemon juice, ginger-garlic paste, turmeric powder, red chili powder, cumin powder, coriander powder, garam masala, black pepper powder, and salt to form a thick paste.

Rub this marinade all over the pomfret, including inside the slits and the cavity.

Let the fish marinate for at least 30 minutes to an hour in the refrigerator.

2. Coat the Pomfret:

After marinating, coat the fish lightly with rice flour or semolina. This helps in giving a crispy texture to the fish when fried.

3. Fry the Pomfret:

Heat oil in a tawa (griddle) over medium heat.

Once the oil is hot, place the marinated and coated pomfret on the tawa.

Fry the fish on medium heat until it is golden brown and crispy on both sides. This should take about 5-7 minutes per side, depending on the thickness of the fish.

Be gentle while flipping the fish to avoid breaking it.

4. Serve:

Once fried, remove the pomfret from the tawa and drain any excess oil on a paper towel.

Garnish with fresh coriander leaves and serve with lemon wedges on the side.

Pomfret Tawa Fry is best enjoyed hot with a side of steamed rice, roti, or as an accompaniment to a traditional meal.

Conclusion:

Pomfret Tawa Fry is a delectable dish that brings out the best flavors of fresh fish with minimal ingredients. The combination of spices and the crispy outer layer make it a perfect choice for any seafood lover. Whether served as an appetizer or part of a main course, this dish is sure to impress with its simplicity and taste.
