Authentic Hyderabadi Chicken Masala Recipe

Ingredients:

500 grams chicken, cut into pieces
2 onions, finely chopped
2 tomatoes, finely chopped
2 green chilies, slit lengthwise
1 tablespoon ginger-garlic paste
1 teaspoon red chili powder
1 teaspoon turmeric powder
1 teaspoon coriander powder
1/2 teaspoon garam masala powder
1/2 teaspoon cumin seeds
1/4 cup yogurt
2 tablespoons oil
Salt to taste
Fresh coriander leaves for garnish


Instructions:

Marinate the chicken pieces with yogurt, ginger-garlic paste, red chili powder, turmeric powder, and salt. Mix well and let it marinate for at least 30 minutes.


Heat oil in a pan over medium heat. Add cumin seeds and let them splutter.


Add the chopped onions and sauté until they turn golden brown.


Add the chopped tomatoes and green chilies. Cook until the tomatoes become soft and the oil starts to separate.


Now, add the marinated chicken along with the marinade. Mix well to coat the chicken with the onion-tomato mixture.


Cover the pan and let the chicken cook on low heat for about 15-20 minutes or until it is tender and cooked through. Stir occasionally to prevent sticking.


Once the chicken is cooked, sprinkle garam masala powder and coriander powder. Mix well and cook for another 2-3 minutes.


Garnish with freshly chopped coriander leaves.
